mobile (but inflexible)

‘ ..the news releases throw in his face a hundred disjointed and unpredictable happenings. Everything, it would seem, is changing at high speed. To stop and focus on it, so as to encompass and comprehend it, would be impossible. The scene is only what I am trying to see. Everything follows everything else for no reason. Incoherence seems to preside over this succession of events. The impression I get is that of a bewildering world which is mobile but inflexible. It is incomprehensible, touchy, disquieting as ghosts’ veils, a broken world, full of holes and full of the irrational.’

Jacques Ellul
